Long Island is known for having the best beaches in the world today. It is because of clean, fine white sand, less humid with excellent sunshine a perfect place for those who wants to be tan, and a cool breeze coming out from the Atlantic Ocean. Many of Long Island Beaches are surrounded by cloistered dunes and lighthouses that make it one of a kind. There are over one hundred and fifty world-class beaches actively functioned by the state, county, town, and municipalities of Long Island. In fact, some of them recognized as the best public beaches throughout the world featuring miles of boardwalks, restaurants, picnic areas and the most spectacular sunrises and sunsets to be found anywhere. A few Long Island beaches are exclusive only for residents but most of it including all of the major state parks are open to everyone.

Jones Beach State Park - The park was built by Robert Moses in 1929 the president of the Long Island State Park Commission and considered to be one of the most beautiful parks in the world, free from housing developers and private clubs, and instead is open for the general public. The park offers surf bathing along its 6.5 miles of ocean beach, one-half mile of bay beach for still water bathing, and two swimming pools.
Robert Moses State Park - The park is named by Robert Moses who created many of the state parks in New York. It is one of two state parks in New York to bear his name. The park offers a beach, picnic tables with pavilions, a playground, fishing, boatind, and other recreational activities.
Fire Island - A barrier beach located 45 minutes outside of New York City just a 30 minute ferry ride across the Great South Bay, a natural lagoon formed by the island varying between 5 1/2 miles (8.9 km) wide toward the western end of the island to just a few hundred yards. The island and its resort towns are mainly accessible by several ferries that traverse Great South Bay.
The Hamptons - It refers the entire Long Island south fork from Moriches to Montauk and it is a well known summer colony. Parts of it are known for being a playground for the rich who own summer homes there. Others are seaside resorts frequented by middle class residents of New York City particularly during the summer months for weekend getaways.
